A new phone for pictures!

We had a really good new year and are off to a great start for 2026.  I'm challenging myself to a few things and have just had an amazing Christmas vacation.  We did a few fireworks (leftovers we couldn't use this past 4th of July!) and had some of the neighborhood kiddos come over to see.  There were the usual ground ones but my gosh, we had quite a few that were up in the air crazy big for 'simple' get-em-from-the-local-tent type!  ....I wanted to try out my new phone so drove over to Antelope Island.  I am so impressed.  I had an older model iPhone before that took the worst pictures so am beyond happy with how this newer version is working.   ......I threw in a few pics from our 'greek night' that happens quite a bit around here since we love it.  ......also, after a few hands of rummy (card game), we noticed some crazy pups and had to take pics.

Fireworks are always fun....and we actually did ours fairly early thinking we'd make neighbors happy and we'd all sleep well.  .....apparently, others didn't get the memo that we celebrate the new year on east coast time!!!!

We have seen so many eagles lately.  Beautiful.  These guys did not want to get up!

Brownie....looking rather sweet here

Sawyer was the photographer here.

This guys got ridiculously close....he had an injured friend in front of him so I like to think he was in protection mode....

wow...just gorgeous day!

I loved the reflection here.

The sky was looking ominous.  It's been a strange winter here with the warmest temperatures on record.

low water levels but make for pretty scenery.  The ducks are probably confused with our temperatures.

Mikey taking pics too...

Learning how to use all the buttons to focus.

more focus learning.....

I sure look tired here!

Connor was helping out with some lamb and beef gyro meat while I made some fried bread.  Christmas isn't truly over until Jesus is baptized so I keep up the decorations for a bit...plus, notice the dark from the window...is it 430? or 8?

Yummy!

Snoop looking pretty darn cute.

Brownie knocked out!!!

I hope however you came to see my scrapbook/blog post that you have a fabulous day!

Birthday

It was my birthday this week.  Always a hard then great week.  First, sadness of what was not to be and then gratefulness for each year of my life.  ….Connor is fully into football now so that is our Saturday's. Extremely fun actually but often we’re dealing with coaches that are a bit too passionate and ticking off referees.   ….later, we celebrated my birthday with some steak and pirogies. Mmmm.    …I’m so very ready for cooler days.  I’m finding myself wanting to bake and yet the temps are still very high.   ….oh well, embrace the season, right?  I’ll continue to mostly bake in the morning and enjoy it all later.  ….have an excellent day!

A long summer…but a GOOD one

. .. ' This was a good summer.  There was fun and adventure…seeing family and mending fences….we said goodbye to a loved one that we’re still a bit shocked by…..we got to see many family and friends and didn’t see others.  ….this is our life, my life.     And today….today, my sweet girl would have been 16.  I was a bit surprised by my absolute sadness but Ireland Rose Brady was a beautiful part of our life.  We would experience her life and her passing again and again if it meant we could hold her and look into her sweet eyes.    …..and as the day went on, I realized how very blessed I have been.  I’ll be 52 in just a day and a half….I’ve truly been living well.  There has been crazy hard times but with that, I’ve had so much fun and love in my life.  I’ll go ahead and sign up for 52 more years, please.

Mornings at home...

I have a habit lately of waking up entirely too early.  When I do the math, I'm clocking in at around 5 hours of sleep, so I know this is probably near what most adults are experiencing.  If my thoughts are racing, I even need to take a trazodone just to get to sleep but more times than not, I can get to sleep...just not stay asleep.  ......alas, I will say that I love my morning time too.  Everyone is asleep...even the dogs.  I get up...make my coffee...journal...maybe read a devotional...maybe read the news...too often, get on X.  I dream and make lists.  I stare around and say many prayers of absolute thanksgiving.  I think of all of my family and friends.  I dream up times together or remember those times we've already spent together.  .....blessed.  This is what I am. This here is my morning spot.  I do not have a big home.  We clock in at just over 2000 square feet but it is enough.  I've found that it's true th...
