A rainy week after a very dry summer

This was a rainy, cooler week.  It was soooooooo dang nice!  My cake was such a flop last week that I felt the need to bake something great so made these little jam cakes.  ….also, selling my little baby grand.  I love this but simply do not play it enough and it takes up too much real estate in our smaller house.  …most people seem to think we have this huge home but really, it’s not at all.  Storage is at a minimum and each room is fully used.  I’ve had times in my life when I’ve wished for a bigger home but the fact is, we have really made this our own.  I always seem to need to ‘do something’ but I believe that’s how it should be.  It should constantly evolve with us.  Plus, our area tends to have very small yards where we have a half acre next to a nice park.  We’ve made my dream kitchen, we have this great porch along with an area for outdoor cooking…..it’s just home now.  My kiddos have all of their friends they’ve...

Birthday

It was my birthday this week.  Always a hard then great week.  First, sadness of what was not to be and then gratefulness for each year of my life.  ….Connor is fully into football now so that is our Saturday's. Extremely fun actually but often we’re dealing with coaches that are a bit too passionate and ticking off referees.   ….later, we celebrated my birthday with some steak and pirogies. Mmmm.    …I’m so very ready for cooler days.  I’m finding myself wanting to bake and yet the temps are still very high.   ….oh well, embrace the season, right?  I’ll continue to mostly bake in the morning and enjoy it all later.  ….have an excellent day!

A long summer…but a GOOD one

. .. ' This was a good summer.  There was fun and adventure…seeing family and mending fences….we said goodbye to a loved one that we’re still a bit shocked by…..we got to see many family and friends and didn’t see others.  ….this is our life, my life.     And today….today, my sweet girl would have been 16.  I was a bit surprised by my absolute sadness but Ireland Rose Brady was a beautiful part of our life.  We would experience her life and her passing again and again if it meant we could hold her and look into her sweet eyes.    …..and as the day went on, I realized how very blessed I have been.  I’ll be 52 in just a day and a half….I’ve truly been living well.  There has been crazy hard times but with that, I’ve had so much fun and love in my life.  I’ll go ahead and sign up for 52 more years, please.
